ARTISTIC AND URBAN INTERVENTIONS IN PUBLIC SPACE

Archana Prasad of Bangalore based Jaaga will moderate the event which includes presentations by three renowned German artists staying in Bangalore: Uwe Jonas, Ralf Homann, and Max Erbacher are part of the bangaloREsidency, an artist in residence programme of the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Bangalore in cooperation with local hosts.
BangaloREsident at 1 Shanthi Road, Uwe Jonas is a visual artist and curator who engages with transformations of societies and has great experience with context sensitive interventions. He will present an overview of different types of artistic interventions in public spaces, giving special attention to participatory approaches.
BangaloREsident at Maara, Ralf Homann is interested in activating public spaces by means of performative practices. Much of his work deals with space and media. Drawing on his own experiences, in particular with radio installations, he will give a presentation on the concept of public space and on site-specific art works.
BangloREsident at MOD Institute, Max Erbacher’s oeuvre includes installations and interventions in public spaces. He is also the founder of an artist run art space. Max will not only talk to us about his own work in different cities, including Bangalore, but also about artist run art spaces in general: What tends to define them and how can they themselves function as artistic interventions in public spaces?
